The 24th National
Annual gathering (Ijtema) of Lajna Imaillah (the Women's Auxiliary)
Australia was held on 7th, 8th and 9th of September 2007 at the ‘Bait
ul Huda' Mosque in Sydney. By the grace of Allah, members from all
over Australia attended this event with immense enthusiasm and zeal.
Friday, 7th September 2007.
The day started promptly at 3pm, with the recitation of the Holy Quran,
followed by a traditional poem and the pledge. The National President
of Lajna Imaillah Australia then opened with a short address to the
women. A briefing on the rules and regulations for the ijtema then
followed and a great emphasis was placed on showing true sportsmanship
and promoting sisterhood, during this blessed gathering. The competitions
started with the tilawat competition and then Shura followed.
The nasirat competions for girls aged 7-15 were held seperately in
the upstairs hall of the mosque. The bottom hall catered for the women
which were split into two main groups, one consisting for women aged
16-25 and the other for women aged 25 and above. The first competion
was the recitation of the Holy Quran for women aged 25 and above.
The session then concluded with Salat and Dinner.
The National Annual Majlis-e-Shura 2007 was also held, in which a
number of important issues were brought to light and discussed.
Saturday, 17th September 2007.
The day began at 10:00am with the recitation of the Holy Quran with
translations in both English and Urdu, followed by a poem. The day
the started with another speech by the National President of Lajna
Imaillah Australia, in which she read a message sent by our beloved
Huzoor (aba) for this occasion. In which he sent blessings and prayers
for the success of the National Annual Ijteema 2007 for Lajna and
Nasirat-ul-Ahmadiyya. Huzoor(aba)’s pious words drew everyone’s
attention towards the importance of resurrecting our faith with new
zeal and adhering to the teachings of Islam, through the teachings
given by the Holy Quran and The Promised Messiah(as). Huzoor(aba)
also emphasized on the importance of the bond with khilafat. After
this message Sadr sahiba recited verses from the Holy Quran and ahadith
which teach mankind to enjoin what is good and forbid that which is
evil.
The speech competitions then followed, and after lunch and salat,
the second session consisted of the rest of the Quran tilawat competions
and Urdu poetry competitions. The day then concluded with a scrumptious
dinner and Maghrib and Isha prayers.
Sunday, 18th September 2007.
The final day, started at 10.00am again with the recitation of the
Holy Quran, which was then followed by a traditional poem and then
the extempore speech competion. Thereligious knowledge quiz and ‘Bait
Bazi’ (Urdu Poetry) competitions then followed. The President
and Missionary in-charge of Australia Mr Mahmood Ahmed then addressed
the women. He talked about the importance of maintaining good discipline
during gatherings, by minimal talking during the sessions. A point
that was stressed by Huzor in his Friday Sermon, he said that idle
chatter disrupted gatherings and prevented us from attaining the full
potentional and benefit that could be achieved from attentively listening
to speeches.
After lunch, and salat the afternoon consisted mainly of the prize
distrubution ceremony in which the contestants were recognized for
both Educational and Sporting competitions. The National President
of the Women's Auxiliary of Australia then presented brief concluding
remarks to thank everyone for their efforts in making this gathering
a success.
