History of Lajna Imaillah Australia.
Lajna
Imaillah means "maid servants of Allah." The organization
was originally founded in 1922 by Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih II, the
second successor of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace).
Objectives:
- To
educate Ahmadi women and reinforce the necessity of living their
lives according to Islamic teachings.
- To
prepare them to serve their fellow beings lovingly and to preach
Islam in the best manner possible.
- To
encourage them to instruct, guide and train their children in
the precept and practices of Islam.
- To
promote in Ahmadi women such a spirit of sacrifice as to keep
them ever ready for offering their lives, properties and their
children in the cause of Islam and for the preservation of the
Ahmadiyya Khilafat.
Lajna Imaillah - International
There are currently more than 700 branches of Lajna in various parts
of the world. These branches, by promoting cooperation and teamwork
among their members, are trying to realize Lajna's objectives throughout
the world. One of Lajna's important achievements is its contribution
towards building mosques. The Fazl Mosque in London, the Mubarak
Mosque in Holland and the Nusrat Jehan Mosque in Denmark were built
exclusively by donations by Lajna.
Lajna Imaillah Australia - a humble begining
Lajna Imaillah Australia began humbly with a very small number of
members who had emigrated from Pakistan and Fiji. At the beginning
there was no formal Lajna Auxiliary, however the sisters used to
get together whenever possible as there were not many Ahmadi families.
This provided a great opportunity for everyone to be able to offer
their prayers in congregation as well as to provide an opportunity
for the children to meet fellow Ahmadi sisters and brothers.
Over time as they grew slightly in number they were blessed by the
proposal to build a mosque in Sydney. Mashallah these very hard
working maid servants of Allah took great pride in being involved
so closely in the building of the biggest mosque in the country,
devoting countless hours for the professional fabrication of its
fiberglass domes with their delicate hands. "a feat unparalleled
in the history of voluntary works ever undertaken by women"
as described by sister Naima Shakil Munir, who was the wife of the
First missionary of Australia. In 1989 at the time of the completion
Masjid Bait-ul-Huda the Lajna members numbered no more then approximately
30 Ladies.
Gathering the pace
Slowly the Lajna became more organized and began to hold more regular
gatherings and also began to direct their attention more towards
the educational needs to of the Ladies and girls of Jamaat Ahmadiyya
Australia. The Jamaat continued to grow steadily in number all over
Australia and provided the Lajna members with more help in formally
establishing the Lajna Imaillah Auxiliary in accordance with the
Lajna constitution.
Last 16 years - the progress is exemplary
Over the past 16 years the Lajna members have grown immensely in
number and have come a long way. They are now very well organized
and have a number of branches all over Australia. They are actively
fulfilling their many goals and responsibilities by holding Sunday
classes for the children, Regular monthly educational meetings for
the Lajna members, and also many social events for the betterment
of Lajna members. May Allah bless their pious efforts and allow
them to grow and prosper for the sake of Islam and our future generations.
Humanity is also our zeal
Lajna members actively serving the humanity through participating
the Red-cross door knock Appeal, Salvation Army Appeal. They regularly
collect Food and cloth items and donation to help needy in Australia
and overseas wherever needed such as Sri Lanka and Indonesia for
Tsunami Relief.
